CONFERENCE ON SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT, AIR QUALITY AND CLIMATE CHANGE
FOR LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN. HOW TO ACHIEVE SUSTAINABLE URBAN TRANSPORT?

OBJECTIVES

This conference is designed to provide an interdisciplinary and multi-stakeholder forum on how to achieve sustainable urban transport and incorporate climate change and air quality considerations, as well as how to mobilize decisions, knowledge and resources to make it happen. Specific objectives of this conference are as follows:

  1. Convene and activate a broad network of decision makers, experts, practitioners and key stakeholders to foster sustainable urban transport while addressing air pollution and climate change.
  2. Provide participants with information, expertise, training and technical assistance to impulse and develop sustainable transport interventions;
  3. Improve capacities of participants to design, implement, evaluate and enhance sustainable transport programs, projects and policies, and capture the benefits of action on climate change mitigation, air quality improvement and enhanced health protection.
  4. Foster deployment of cleaner and more efficient transport technologies and fuels, and disseminate sustainable transport related services.
  5. Develop and disseminate conference proceedings and other outreach materials as information sources for use by decision makers, government policy officials, transport industry leader and all other interested parties.
  6. Establish a common agreement for a platform of practice for collaboration and next steps in a road map for the region in transitioning to sustainable transportation.
